Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2026
FreelanceCalc is designed to be privacy-first from the ground up. Here's exactly what does and doesn't get collected:
Every number you enter into any FreelanceCalc tool — income goals, hourly rates, business expenses, tax rates, project costs — is processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript.
This data is never sent to any server, never logged, never stored in a database, and never associated with your identity in any way. Closing or refreshing the page clears all entered data completely. We architected it this way intentionally — there is no mechanism by which your financial data could be transmitted even if we wanted to.
FreelanceCalc uses minimal cookies, none of which are linked to personal identity:
- Google Analytics cookies — used to track anonymous site usage (pages visited, time on site, general location). IP addresses are anonymized before storage. You can opt out via Google's opt-out browser add-on.
- Google AdSense cookies — used to serve contextual ads. Google may use cookies to show ads relevant to your browser activity. You can manage preferences at Google Ad Settings.
- No tracking or advertising cookies from any other party. No Facebook Pixel, no retargeting scripts, no session replay tools.
FreelanceCalc uses the following third-party services. Each is governed by its own privacy policy:
| Service | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Anonymous traffic analysis | Anonymized page views, session data, device/browser type |
| Google AdSense | Contextual advertising | Cookie-based ad targeting (no personal financial data) |
| Google Fonts | Typography | Font request (browser type, referring URL) per Google's policy |
| Netlify | Website hosting | Standard server logs (IP, request, timestamp) — retained briefly |
We may also link to affiliate partners (e.g. FreshBooks, QuickBooks). Clicking these links may set third-party cookies governed by those companies' own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the data practices of external sites.
FreelanceCalc displays contextual advertisements via Google AdSense to keep our tools permanently free. Ads are matched to page content — not to your personal profile or any financial data you enter.
We do not allow advertisers to access your data. No financial information you enter into our calculators is shared with advertisers under any circumstances.
To opt out of personalized advertising, visit Google Ad Settings or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
Since we don't collect personal data, there is nothing to delete or export on our end. Anonymous analytics data is retained by Google Analytics per their standard settings.
If you believe we hold any data about you and would like it removed, contact us — we'll investigate and respond within 30 days. Residents of the EU (GDPR), California (CCPA), and other regions with data protection laws have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold.
FreelanceCalc is designed for adults (18+) and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Material changes will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this page. We will not reduce your privacy protections without clear notice.
Continued use of FreelanceCalc after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. If you have questions about this policy or how we handle data, the About page has context on how the site operates.
